Love Forecasts for August 2005

Around August 5-6 there is some uplifting news. You may travel or make a trip. Enjoy these days, even if you need to spend some money.

Attraction versus Compatibility

Obviously, these two terms are not the same.

Interestingly, we came upon some definitions that are used in the scientific field (ICT jargon or definitions used in physics) that are very apt.

Attraction is often defined as "the electric or magnetic force exerted by oppositely charged particles, tending to draw or hold the particles together."

Compatibility is often defined as "the capability of two or more items or components of equipment or material to exist or function in the same system or environment without mutual interference."

How apt these definitions are in relationship analysis too!

If we transpose the definition of "Attraction" to the world of human relationships we can define Attraction as "a magnetic impulse pulling or drawing two or more people together."

The definition of "Compatibility" can be translated as "the capability of two or more people to exist or function in the same environment (houshold, working environment,...) without mutual interference."

Whenever there is an electric force, there is a magnetic force, meaning that there should always be two opposite forces at work (a north pole and a south pole, a positive or male force and a negative or female one, day and night, black and white, Yin and Yang,...).

In astrology this magnetic force can be found when two planets of the opposite sex are brought together.

• The Sun, Mars and Jupiter are male or positive forces.
• The Moon, Venus and Neptune are female or negative forces.

This said, it might be clear that attraction is related to certain planetary combinations. But there is more.

If attraction is an impulse, an initiating force, then, from an astrological point of view, we know that any initiating force or impulse is produced by the Cardinal Signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn).

• Aries is a Cardinal Fire Sign: the pure spark, energetic impulse (instinctive initiatives and drives)
• Cancer is a Cardinal Water Sign: the emotional impulse (emotions and feelings)
• Libra is a Cardinal Air Sign: the mental and communicational impulse (ideas and encounters)
• Capricorn is a Cardinal Earth Sign: the material impulse (ambitions and materialistic drives)

In astrology, Signs represent the scenery and the background in your life, the Planets respresent the players and the Houses represent the environment and the circumstances.

Attraction is taking place between the players (the planets), while compatibility is more related to the houses (the environment) and the signs.

The rulers of these Cardinal Signs are:

• Mars, ruler of Aries
• the Moon, ruler of Cancer
• Venus, ruler of Libra
• Saturn, ruler of Capricorn

Clearly, attraction should especially be derived from these rulers of the Cardinal signs (i.e. the planets, or at least SOME planets) while compatibility is a matter of the signs and the houses.
