Click here to download the May 2023 calendar in pdf format. In general and on a mundane level, events are likely to happen around May 2, 9, 15, 22 and/or 29-30. During this month of May there are no specific planetary configurations of stationing outer planets active that might affect some specific birthdays. Generally speaking, May 3, 10, 22 and 25 are "less lucky" days. Try not to initiate any major projects on these dark, unfortunate, chaotic and empty days (no proposals, no marriages, no changes of residence,...) because things may not go as planned or wished. In the 45° dial, there are the following powerful midpoint combos between outer planets going on that will be exact this month and that will mark this month's Zeitgeist: Neptune hits the Saturn/Chiron midpoint (NE = SA/CH), the Jupiter/Neptune midpoint equals the Saturn/Uranus midpoint (JU/NE = SA/UR), the Jupiter/Neptune midpoint hits the Neptune/Pluto midpoint (JU/NE = NE/PL), the Jupiter/Saturn midpoint equals the Saturn/Pluto midpoint, and Jupiter equals the Saturn/Neptune midpoint (JU = SA/NE). Let's take a look now what these planetary pictures tell about this month's Zeitgeist. The NE = SA/CH midpoint that is specifically active in the 1st half of May, is indicative of, among others: the painful and harsh realities, the chronic health situation, not being able to fly high, the sadness, the painful physical injuries, to feel miserable. The JU/NE = SA/UR midpoint that is also predominantly active in the 1st half of May, suggests, among others: the disruptive storm or floods or inundations, the massive breaches of law, the shocking scandal(s) or fraud. The JU/NE = NE/PL midpoint that is predominantly active the whole month but exact around May 18, suggests, among others: the uncovering of big corruption or fraud or scandal(s), the huge water-related issues because of floods or inundations, the heavy rain or precipitation. The JU/SA = SA/PL midpoint that is predominantly active the whole month but exact around May 18, suggests, among others: the damage to buildings, houses and/or tall concrete structures (like a tall apartment). The JU = SA/NE midpoint that is predominantly active around May 25, suggests, among others: the big storm(s), tons of precipitation, the financial issues or shortages, to be dissatisfied, to feel a lack of something, to be upset about the ways of the world, losing the will to fight. This month also, Neptune reaches the last three degrees in the sign Pisces. Anytime a planet transits the last three degrees of a zodiac sign, it starts to manifest some of the traits and characteristics of the next sign (in this case Aries). This suggests we are very slowly entering a more active period of time during which ideals are being fought for and plans are being carried out. However, the last three degrees of Pisces are also known as "drowning degrees" (literally and figuratively: through water, work or other situations and experiences). Hence, on a mundane level, we are also entering a period of time that may coincide with lots of water-related issues, maritime issues, floods and inundations, among others. Additionally, the last Pisces degrees are highly unstable degrees that often coincide with mental confusion, and also so-called mental illnesses, reflecting a Zeitgeist of mental confusion and emotional vulnerability. The mental confusion and so-called mental derailments are even reinforced by Pluto's lingering position and the powerful station at 0° Aquarius which happens around May 1. Pluto turns backward then and is ready to leave upsetting, revolutionary, revolting and liberating Aquarius in June to return to more strict, corporate and governmental Capricorn for the rest of this year 2023. Pluto will go back and forth between old, structured, conservative themes on the one hand and the "new", more scattered, liberating, futuristic traits on the other side this and next year. So, it will be a bit difficult to focus with such a heavy transit at the cusp of both zodiac signs. Power to the people will likely and "gently" be suppressed once more, until Pluto enters Aquarius again late 2024. Pluto stations often coincide with earthquakes and the likelihood of events causing many deaths as Pluto represents the concept of death/rebirth and intense and profound transformations, reversals. If you are Scorpio or have Scorpio rising, you will feel its station more profoundly and may not feel too well. You may notice things don't work out as you wish for. Stationing Pluto is still at the degree of a HUGE U-turn, emergencies, so that this intense and highly charged transit is extremely powerful and will manifest in shocking ways (often literally, unfortunately). When going backward, investigative Pluto is going yet deeper into the rabbit hole and going to gather more information. Retrograde Pluto is told to become more secretive too. Following astrometeorology, stationing Pluto in the air sign Aquarius becomes extremely forceful and intense and thus often coincides with heavy wind, storms, tornadoes, typhoons etc. Expect more wind and cooler temps here and there the coming days and weeks. Following mundane astrology, stationing Pluto increases the risk of violence, the more so when the station happens at the critical degree of 0° Aquarius of emergencies. The Sun and Mercury conjoin at 11° Taurus around the same day of May 1-2, presenting news that brings a reality check and keeps you "grounded" and down-to-earth. There are sunny spells around the same day of May 1. Around May 4, Venus at 26° Gemini squares Neptune at 26° Pisces, pointing to love dreams, platonic love but also secret lova affairs. This waxing square increases the imagination and glamorous side of love and romance and cannot see things in perspective. This is a deceptive aspect overall, especially in matters of love and romance and financially speaking too. Around the same day of May 4, there are sunny spells first and later it gets cloudy. Around May 5 the Lunar Eclipse at 14° Scorpio widely opposes Uranus and suggests material damage and material losses, for whatever reason. Uranus can be upsetting and disruptive, creating sudden events, but the degree area coincides with protests, manifestations as well as violence. This is a turbulent Lunar Eclipse, especially affecting existential needs and comfort so that possessions, material goods will be part of the problems. Following astrometeorology, lots of precipitation and/or water-related issues are possible here and there. Venus enters home-loving Cancer around May 7, suggesting it's time for home renovations and improvements. Because Venus at 0° Cancer of the home, the motherly principle of caring is now also inconjunct Pluto, chances are there will be the death of a loved one. Venus-Pluto aspects also coincide with (financial) blackmail, issues about debt/loans (and other shared resources) and income. Following astrometeorology, beware of stormy weather here and there. The Sun and Uranus meet at 18° Taurus around May 9, presenting some unexpected situations (for good or ill). Around May 14, there are clouds in the sky first and with sunny spells later on. Around May 14-15, Mercury stations at 5° Taurus and turns direct again. As usual, stationing Mercury affects Geminis and Virgos on the one hand and Virgo and Gemini Ascendants on the other hand foremost. Their life is slowly back on track again and things may start to go as planned again. Taking decisions becomes easier. Following mundane astrology, stationing Mercury periods often coincide with protests, manifestations and/or strikes. Jupiter enters possessive and materialistic Taurus around May 16 in which it feels quite good. Realize that Uranus too is in Taurus, which is important because both planets will meet eventually and bring forth progress, especially in a material or physical way, to add to our comfort in whatever way and/or to bring relief. Both planets in Taurus will bring great and even big innovations when the time is right, as well as relief in whatever situation you are, especially on a material level. Indeed, in the fixed earth sign Taurus, Jupiter is not focusing on spiritual and conceptual things but instead sticks to material and practical things that help us in a tangible and down-to-earth material way. Following mundane astrology, Jupiter entering monetary and material Taurus tends to exaggerate and expand the financial situation. It might be an indication of financial optimism, but also of buying lots of goods and spending too much. When Jupiter and Uranus meet later on, expect groundbreaking innovations anyway that will present milestones. Around May 17, there are clouds in the sky first and with sunny spells later on with fair weather the day after on May 18. Around the same day of May 17-18, Jupiter at 0° Taurus squares (still) stationing Pluto at 0° Aquarius, presenting an existential crisis for some of you and disrupting the comfort zone. Some of you may strive to safeguard what you have, your possessions, or what's left of it. The Jupiter-Pluto square, both at so-called critical degrees, can be forceful and violent, the more so because Jupiter exaggerates, expands, increases Pluto's forceful activities and intentions. Following mundane astrology, Jupiter-Pluto aspects, especially at critical degrees, may turn out violently and result in many casualties either because of natural disasters like earthquakes or because of human meddling. Around the May 19 New Moon at 28° Taurus, there is tension in the air and some of you may feel personally limited and separated. There is separation from (a) loved one(s) noticeable. Also, some of you want to resist something and/or try to escape from a tense and/or uncomfortable situation. So indeed, separations will likely occur. If you are born around January 3-4, February 17, April 3, May 19-20, July 5-6, August 21-22, October 6-7 or November 20-21, the current astrological configurations may especially apply to you. Mars enters Royal Leo around May 20, so that some people need more attention and come in the spotlight. Following astrometeorology, anytime Mars enters hot and dry Leo, it increases the odds of dry and/or warm(er) weather. Droughts may be possible here and there as long as Mars resides in hot and dry Leo. Around May 21, Mars at 0° Leo opposes Pluto at 0° Aquarius while the Sun enters Gemini. This is a highly unstable and volatile combo, indicating lots of people on the road, making trips, traveling, changing the place etc. People seem to be a lot "on the go" now, like gypsies. The Mars-Pluto opposition is violent without a doubt and following astrometeorology, this aspect suggests that stormy weather is possible, as well as natural disasters like earthquakes, earth slides etc. Beware of power outages as well. Following mundane astrology, beware of (heavy) transportation and/or traffic accidents. Around May 23, Mars at 1° Leo squares Jupiter at 1° Taurus. This waxing square in fixed signs points to a lack of balance, a lack of measure and knowing boundaries. There is a crusade going on and self-service seems to prevail. Around the same day of May 23, there is fair and gentle weather, dry with sunny spells. It's good day to go shopping or buy something. Mars at 3° Leo squares the true Lunar Nodes around May 26, presenting a violent period. Readers of our monthly forecasts know that all Mars-Lunar Nodes aspects coincide with violence, affecting groups of people, injuring many and even causing lots of casualties. All Mars-Lunar Node aspects present a "bloody" period in some way. The May 26-27 First Quarter Moon at 6° Virgo widely opposes blocking Saturn. Clearly, late May might bring challenges, delays, separation, relationship break-ups and sadness as well. However, in case the separation is related to a change of residence or career or job, it's likely to be a change for the better. This Moon phase reflects a period of obligations and duties, with people (families) coming together and gathering, at times in kind of an enforced way (because of social integration or emotional commitments). The Sun at 6° Gemini squares Saturn at 6° Pisces around May 28, still reflecting separations. Around the same day of May 28, there are sunny spells first, followed by clouds later on. Around May 31, there are clouds in the sky. In most cases, the following configurations are used (there are more though (!) to define Sun Mercury connections but this would lead us too far and make it more complicated than necessary):
What do Sun Mercury connections signify? This connection is a very common one as the Sun and Mercury are always closely gathered together. One of its most remarkable traits so far that we correlate to this connection has to do with taking everything (extremely) personal and subjective. People with dominant Sun Mercury connections have it difficult to remain neutral, see things from a wider perspective. They tend to talk a lot, vent a lot, communicate a lot and it does not come as a surprise that some of them can be good teachers, speakers or radio host, among others (all based upon the principle of verbal self-expression).
