In the astrological literature, there is not so much information available regarding marriages and Venus returns.
Because Venus is the planet of love and relationships (among others), astrologers focus a lot on this planet to delineate the love life of a person.
Venus also represents enjoyable encounters and agreemenst (contracts) and that's why it's often found prominent during a marriage or the formalizing of a partnership.
Also, the Venus cycle (of 8 years and multiples) is found a very reliable indicator in the way love starts and unfolds.
Similarly, when (transiting) Venus conjuncts its natal position, it marks the start of a new (love) cycle.
Such Venus returns are told to show how one's love life unfolds till the next Venus return.
When this theory holds, it should also show if marriage might occur during a particular Venus return.
Following our own research, this may hold true, but it's not always that simple.
Currently, we have based our research results on the marriage dates of quite some men and women (most of all celebrities) and analyzed the Venus return as a stand-alone chart prior to the marriage date.
The charts were calculated for the place of birth because it's almost impossible to find out where the native resided at the moment of the Venus return.
Our preliminary research results lead to the following important conclusions already:
It's easier (more obvious) to find marriage in a female Venus return than in a male Venus return.
When delineating Venus returns you consistently have to look at the following configurations:
1. Look for all midpoint pictures that involve the Sun/Moon midpoint (45° dial/list, orb 1°)
2. Look for all midpoint pictures that involve the AS/MC midpoint (45° dial/list, orb 1°)
3. Look for all totally exact midpoint pictures (45° dial/list, orb 0°00' - 0° 01')
4. In the Venus return of women, we have found that any midpoint combination between the Vernal Point (the Aries point or 0° Aries), the Moon and Venus (45° dial/list, orb 1°) may denote marriage.
For example: MO = VE/Vp or Vp = MO/VE is significantly often found in the Venus return prior to the marriage
Often, Saturn is part of an exact midpoint picture but in case Saturn rules the Ascendant, Descendant or 10th house of the Venus return, Saturn may work out well.
It may be important to take the planetary rulerships into account when using midpoints!
This is something we noticed many times before and this surely needs more investigation.
We have not found any particular aspect from Venus that stands out.
In some cases, Venus was rising or culminating but not significantly so.
Let's take a look at some random examples of celebrities to show how the above-listed astrological principles apply and how marriages are pictured in Venus returns:
