Venus Jupiter Connections

Is He Astrologically Afflicted?

To understand the concept of Venus Jupiter connections we first have to go back into the past for a moment.

In the early 80s a "new" approach of assessing major themes in a natal chart saw the light by the "invention" of the so-called "ZIP Code."

It was a method discovered by Dr. Zipporah Dobyns (hence the name "ZIP Code") and further propagated by her daughter Maritha Pottenger, that made use of the so-called astrological alphabet.

The concept of the astrological alphabet is that astrology deals with twelve basic ways of being, twelve human drives and modes of operation that are all needed in this world.

These twelve sides of life are mirrored in the natal chart by a planet, a house and a sign.

So it is in the astrological alphabet that Mars, the 1st house and Aries all share the same principles (though they are NOT the same!).

Venus, the 2nd house and Taurus also share the same principles and this goes on for the other planets, signs and houses.

What the theory of the ZIP Code or astrological alphabet presents is that certain groups of planet/house/sign combinations share similar themes.

For example: Mars in Libra or Mars in the 7th house share the same principles. The 7th house is in mundane astrology a Libra house (whatever zodiac sign is on the cusp of the 7th house in the natal chart).

This system has been enhanced by German astrologers who developed their own system based upon the same principles but they converted the signs and houses to their respective planetary rulers.

For example: Mars in Capricorn becomes a Mars/Saturn theme because Saturn always rules Capricorn.

Mars in the 10th house too becomes a Mars/Saturn theme because the 10th house is associated with Capricorn, which is ruled by Saturn in mundane astrology.

Also, the ruler of the 1st house (in mundane astrology ruled by Mars because Mars always rules Aries and Aries is always the 1st sign in the natural order of the zodiac) in the 2nd house (in mundane astrology ruled by Venus as the ruler of Taurus) is another Venus-Mars analogy.

The more we find such analogies, themes or connections between two planets, the more this planetary combination becomes an important part of the natal chart and the life of the native.

To find out the connections or analogies between planets, we take especially into account:

  • planets in zodiac signs
  • planets in houses
  • the aspects between planets (the tighter the stronger)
  • the rulerships
  • solstice points

Planets in houses are more important and powerful than the planets in the zodiac signs because they work on a more personal and individual level (we use the Topocentric house system which gives almost the same results as the Placidus house system).

When do we have Venus Jupiter connections, themes or analogies?

In most cases, the following configurations are used (there are more though (!) to define Venus Jupiter connections but this would lead us too far and make it more complicated than necessary):

  • Jupiter in the 2nd house
  • Jupiter in the 7th house
  • Venus in the 9th house
  • the ruler of the 2nd house in the 9th house
  • the ruler of the 7th house in the 9th house
  • the ruler of the 9th house in the 2nd house
  • the ruler of the 9th house in the 7th house
  • Jupiter in a close conjunction, square or opposition with Venus (a tight sextile or trine counts too but in a minor way)
  • Jupiter at the solstice point of Venus
  • Venus in Sagittarius
  • Jupiter in Taurus
  • Jupiter in Libra

When at least three of the above listed analogies or connections can be found in the natal chart, we have a very powerful Venus Jupiter connection that will be felt and noticed in the character and life of the native.

What do Venus Jupiter connections signify?

The Venus Jupiter connection or analogy is associated with two planetary energies that are told to be fortunate.

This assumption is partly wrong though because no planetary energy or combination thereof is fortunate or unfortunate -- as such.

Some energies are more welcome and enjoyable than others but all connections, affinities or analogies actually represent a state of being, a way of behaving, having experiences without judgments or labeling.

Everything is necessary to help in our own development and evolution.

Whenever we find Jupiter in a connection, there is the danger of overdoing, exaggerating, knowing no boundaries.

Jupiter loves the big things and so it is here.

The Venus Jupiter connection represents big (even huge) expectations and hopes related to relationships (the Venus factor).

Most often, the expectations are just unrealistic.

Also, people who have this connection in their chart may have it difficult to live in the daily activities that are found to be too boring and 'down-to-earth.'

Venus Jupiter connections suggest the need to keep away from restrictions, boundaries and limiting influences.

They are real problem-solvers and cannot stand people looking for problems.

They can be attracted to people with powerful Venus Saturn or Mars Saturn connections but these relationships are quite difficult to maintain.

People with powerful Venus Jupiter connections should avoid relationships with people who have powerful Mars Neptune and/or Venus Neptune connections because these relationships create a (destructive) indulgent life.

They eternally long for enchantment and empowerment and enjoy lots of group activities.

There can be a huge need to put the partner on a pedestal.

The partner is often considered a 'savior', someone who will save the native and protect him/her.

People with such a connection often need to be more responsible and tend to take things lightly.

They always expect protection, the best and take things for granted too easily.

If no other powerful connection balances this one out, they can be lazy, enjoying the good life and others doing the job for them.

Interestingly, a key factor in the life of people with a powerful Venus Jupiter connection is triangular relationships.

Venus Jupiter connections also represent a charming, well-liked and popular personality.

They often are remarkable sociable.

They are particularly attracted to guru-like persons, flamboyant people, people who can talk with drama about their adventures and beliefs or concepts.

These can be sensual people who are also able to share love (often abundantly) and know how to enjoy (a good) life.

Another remarkable characteristic of this connection is the interest in aesthetically pleasing things, fashion, beauty and comfort.

Venus Jupiter connections need some luxury, some comfort to live in.

Comfort may be(come) a means to mask an unfulfilled emotional or social life.

They are eternal optimists who want to educate or be educated as well.

Often, 'love' (or the lack thereof) is exchanged for money or goods.

They fear not being good enough (because of their too high ideals) and compensate this feeling creating a comfortable life.

In some instances, this connection suggests gaining weight over time.
